This is how problems start with Tom-boy, who instead of enjoying the holiday, must help a busy mom in the care of a little sister.
"Children of King Nicodemus" is a well-written tale of fantasy, which in the author's premise was to teach young readers, what is the true bond between siblings. The story begins in the modern world when upset Tom expresses the wish that his sister has disappeared or been kidnapped by someone. It's easy to guess that little Susan actually disappears. After deftly, though schematic (theme of sleep) is introduced topic of missing children good King Nicodemus. Exploration expedition is sent an army of knights, of course, but that the three friends find kinglets.
Like any decent fairy tale, the story ends with a happy-evil is defeated, and even Tom changed his approach to his sister. Find books on the cards therefore, tension, adventure, monsters, evil sorcerer, friendship, and many popular themes. Everything described smoothly and perfectly matches the style of children's stories, and yet in a matter of fairy tales-topic adventure ends happily, and the kids are, after talking with their parents, drawn from the history of a lot of applications.
tempted me, however, to suggest to parents as a request for them-not to require teenagers to be guardians of younger brothers and sisters!
Even the most busy parents need to remember that under the law he is responsible for the safety of their children, it is incumbent on him to deal with a child.
And I jeżył hair on my head when I read that "the poor overworked" mom yells at eleven-year boy that is irresponsible, because a sister three years alone on the swing and ran with his friends play ball. But the psychological evidence that the child (and Tom was still a child), is more important to play with their peers, than work involving the care of his sister. Sticking it in the sense of guilt for that reason I think it is cruelty.
Older children, of course, must have their responsibilities, because it allows them to learn responsibility. However, it is a considerable difference between elevating trash, vacuuming, feeding the dog or even helping with bathing younger siblings, a three-year self-toddler care (because the mom has to have peace, to deal with translation of texts).
got the unpleasant feeling that it requires a visit to my mother the therapist, who would tell her that her husband's absence (sailor at sea) does not compensate for the eleven and there is no flip right on it's own sense of guilt. He still needs help and care. Fortunately, there is a great institution of a nanny for an hour or a loving grandmother, just a little bit of effort.
conclusion, as seen from the above digression, the book provoked in me a fairly strong emotions, but from an entirely different reason than the author probably would like. It is, however, reach for this position and, together with the kids to know the adventures of Tom. The more that a book published is really beautiful, hardcover, with beautiful illustrations P. Radom - Skierkowskiej on slick paper.
